The Dolphin House Child Advocacy Center celebrated the 3rd Annual National Forensic Interviewers Week July 8th-12th. We would like to take a moment to share with our community about forensic interviews.
What is a Forensic Interview?
A forensic interview is a child-led conversation facilitated by a forensic interviewer, to gather information that will assist investigative parties in determining whether or not child abuse has occurred. These interviews are conducted in a manner that is non-leading, unbiased, developmentally and culturally appropriate, fact-finding, and legally sound. Forensic interviews are a key component in the investigation and prosecution of child abuse.
Who are Forensic Interviewers?
At The Dolphin House, we currently have 8 forensic interviewers, with 2 of those interviewers being on site staff. Each interviewer has undergone at least one initial standardized training to learn research-based protocols of forensic interviewing. These protocols ensure that the interview environment enables free recall, minimizes interviewer influence, and gather all necessary information for the investigative parties to avoid duplicative interviews. Each interviewer continues their education through further training and peer review processes.
Thank You
The Dolphin House is proud to work with wonderful and professional forensic interviewers as we continue to provide services to the children and families in our community.
